BROGUE... "New England's Premier Classic Rock Cover Band"... is a popular 4-piece group, based in Boston MA.!

The Band's focus is to give a high energy performance for dancing and listening, playing current songs and oldies from a variety of musical styles, including Rock, top-40, Reggae, Blues, Folk, Irish, Country, Motown, plus almost anything by request.

All of the group's members have had extensive experience working with a variety of established recording artists,bands & performance situations in various music styles!

Since 2003, BROGUE has been performing their wide variety of high-energy music music for clubs, restaurants, corporate events, and private parties!

Patrick Hoye
Patrick Hoye - Vocals and Guitar

 

Founder and leader.

Patrick comes from Mullingar Ireland. He played Bass guitar with the "Mystics" at age seventeen, and then moved on to play with the "Swingtime Aces". In 1967, Patrick joined the Joe Dolan Band, Ireland's number one Pop group. They toured Russia, Israel, Las Vegas, South Africa, Canada, Ireland and England.

Patrick came to Boston in 1974 to pursue a degree at Berkelee College of Music, and graduated in 1977. He then returned to Ireland and played with the Peter Law Band , and then again played with Joe Dolan for another eight years.

Patrick returned again to Boston, and after two years of solo playing, started Brogue as a duo. Under the leadership of Patrick, Brogue expanded to a 4 piece high energy rock band in 2005.

 

Dave Melo
Dave Melo - Lead Guitar, Vocals

 

Dave, having been influenced by his family's love of music, began playing guitar at the age of 5. He went on to play guitar in his high school jazz band and drums in the marching band.

As a multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Dave has the ability to perform many styles of music in various settings. Performing with bands such as Beggarman Thief, The Bobby Shannon Group, Midnight Gallop, Revalation, The Blue Box Band, Strange Results, Gorilla Cookies and Beyond Blonde.

With 20 plus years as an audio engineer, Dave has mixed such acts as The James Montgomery Band, The Peach Eaters, Peter Tork Blue Suede Shoes, Chris Fitz Band, Danny Klein's full House Band and many more. For 25 years, Dave has also been instructing students and aspiring musicians to play bass and guitar.

 

Jay Goldstein
Jay Goldstein - Drums

 

Jay also comes from New Jersey, where as a young boy he studied piano before moving onto drums and clarinet. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where he played drums in the Big Red Marching Band for two years. At Cornell, Jay began playing with several Rock Bands, playing a busy schedule of 2 or 3 gigs per week, while still managing to do well in his studies as a pre-med student.

Jay's professional music career took a break during medical school and internship, but in the mid 70's Jay played with several Country-Rock bands in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jay has been with Brogue since 2005, and is Brogue's only non full time musician. (His day job is that of a Dermatologist at MetroWest Medical Center.)

 

Joe Downs
Joe Downs - Bass

 

Joe Downs started playing bass after seeing the Beatles performs on Ed Sullivan. He attended Berklee College of Music, and has played in practically every type of band, and has played almost every type of genre over the years including classic rock, Southern rock, blues, R and B, and even jazz and country. Joe has opened for top National bands including the Doobie Brothers, and Peter Frampton. He is one of the most sought after bass players in the Greater Boston Area. His taste and technique are impeccable. His bass lines are clean and punchy, and always perfect. Joe is the newest member of Brogue, and Brogue is thrilled to have him on board.
